What is a stock?
A stock is a small piece of ownership in a company. When you buy a share, you own a tiny part of that company. If the company grows and earns more, its share price may rise, but prices can also fall. Prices move when more people want to buy than sell, or the other way around.
Reading candlesticks
Each candle shows one period of time. The body runs from the open price to the close price. A white candle means the price closed higher than it opened. A red candle means it closed lower. The thin lines, called wicks, show the highest and lowest prices in that period.
Managing risk
Before you trade, decide the most you are willing to lose. A stop-loss is a price where you exit to limit the loss. A common beginner rule is to risk only a small part of your money on one trade, and never trade money you cannot afford to lose.
